They say some things are written in the stars; did you ever wonder if your parenting style might be one of them? If you’ve got a baby on the way, or are a new mom or dad, you’re probably curious about what type of parent you will be. Once the newborn haze lifts and you find your rhythm, there are so many different avenues of parenting to explore.

Some are just natural tendencies like strictness or a free-spirited affect. Other aspects are learned parenting styles or trends. You don’t have to be a zodiac zealot to wonder, and we’re breaking down our predictions here. Seasoned parents, what do you think… Does the star sign-parenting predictor hold true in your home? Read on, and you be the judge!

Aries (March 21-April 19)

  • Strict disciplinarian
  • Fiercely protective
  • Energetic and passionate

Aries as parents have a can-do attitude that is admirable and awesome. Instinctively, Aries can be competitive by nature, so that shows up in parenting in both positive and negative ways. Aries mamas and papas will fight tooth-and-nail to get the very best for their kiddos; just make sure you play fair and let them make their own mistakes, too.

At home, you will likely be the “bad cop” parent; but hey, every household needs one! Keep your temper in check by carving out time for yourself to focus on your own passions and hobbies, because after all, you are still you even after you’ve had a baby.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

  • Patient and nurturing
  • Attachment parenting enthusiast
  • Stubborn and strict (...about the big stuff)

Listen up, Taurus, this is your time to shine. As a natural cuddler, you’ll be all about the first several years of your kids’ lives, and will likely prefer babywearing to a stroller because it means lots of extra touch. You will give your littles lots of positive reinforcement and be extra patient with them through their mistakes and learning process, and will tend to look on the bright side.

You already know you can be a little stubborn, and this’ll seep into parenthood. Think of it as a good thing: Kids need boundaries and “no zones.” Decide what yours are and stick to them in those important areas. It is okay to be firm about the big stuff!

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

  • Parent and best friend
  • Makes each day fun
  • Child-led parenting

If anyone ever teased you about Geminis having a “split” personality, just know that “trait” was waiting for this very moment. Becoming someone’s parent means having to think quickly, and often doing more than one thing at a time. Geminis make great parents because they put their kids first, both large-scale and day-to-day, whether that means carpooling to three different schools all over town so everyone is in the best place for them, or putting together a midweek hot cocoa game night “just because.”

Gemini parents thrive on also being their children’s best friend, so be careful that you maintain the boundaries needed to not only preserve the respect you require, but also keep them safe. That said, there are a lot of positives that can come out of a home where littles grow up knowing their voices are heard and amplified.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

  • Hands-on and ultra-loving
  • Bonds over family time
  • “Smother mother” potential

Listen up, Cancer, your heart is the absolute best place. Your expert planning skills will go to amazing use as the executor of beautiful family vacations and nightly gatherings around the dinner table. Your children will feel your love and affirmation with every fiber of themselves, because you are bound to be incredibly hands-on, and brimming with the most positive and delightful overflow of affection to pour into them.

Just be careful that you do not overdo it! Children need both love and space, especially as they grow up and inch away from the nest. The very best way to keep them close is to give them a little bit of breathing room when they ask for it. But don’t worry, you’ll find a way to keep the love flowing even in those awkward middle school years and beyond. You’ve got this!

Leo (July 23-August 22)

  • High energy
  • Loyal and protective
  • Insta-glam parent

Leo mamas (and dads, too!) are known to be the ultimate dazzlers, who keep a good appearance, rally the troops, and run a pretty perfect show at all times. Your brood will be dressed to the nines when you leave the house, and this is a point of pride. In kind, you’ll probably have at least one child with a flair for the dramatic and a love for their closeup–relish it and have fun!

Your abundant energy applies to parenthood: You’ll always sign up, and show up, just to be there for your kids. Trust us, they will notice. And if anyone messes with them it’s game over. From the early days, you’ll document every single moment, the ultimate in #InstaParentGoals. As long as you make sure to strip away the screens, glam, and other distractions for focused and relaxed family time often, you’ll keep them grounded.

Virgo (August 23-September 22)

  • Active & organized
  • Total Pinterest parent
  • Sky-high standards

Your high Virgo standards and appreciation for the details in life are about to kick into overdrive when applied to the wonderful world of parenting. Virgo mamas are perfectionists with high standards of how their homes are run and how they treat their kiddos. You’ll like to keep busy, prepare healthy meals, and teach your little ones how to take proper care of their bodies and belongings.

As a Virgo parent, you will likely throw epic parties and design the loveliest nurseries and play spaces, down to every last Pinterest-worthy detail. You’ll keep the pantry, laundry room, and closets enviably organized between driving your kiddos to a million after-school activities. Just make sure that you don’t strive for such perfection that you or your kids feel pressure that leads to burnout mode. Everyone needs to chill sometimes, and that includes you.

Libra (September 23-October 22)

  • Peaceful parenting
  • Creative and artistic
  • Doesn’t sweat the small stuff

Ahhhh, Libra. Your parenting style is bound to be just as relaxed and peace-filled as your approach to other facets of your life. You’ll strive to create harmony in the home, and will get down on your kids’ level to hear them out even in the hardest of moments. Creativity is big for Libras, and you’re bound to make your home a beautiful space. Pour your artistic sense into mother- or fatherhood and watch them thrive under your inspirational guidance.

Libras are inherently conflict-averse and positive, so discipline is not going to be a biggie to you. Your peacekeeping, go-with-the-flow approach to parenthood will serve you well, as long as you don’t to find yourself getting too lax. Keep the peace, but find a balance with a few important rules that do matter in the home.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)

  • Generous and nurturing
  • Micro-manager mom or dad
  • The loving leader

So much about your Scorpio tendencies have prepared you for the nitty-gritty of parenting. For starters, you love hard and show up: These are pretty much the most important pieces of the puzzle! Scorpios also keep a lovely home, strive for cleanliness and nice decor, and will treat the family to the best that the budget will allow. You are generous and you show your affection freely.

Scorpios parents are undoubtedly the disciplinarians in the house. You’re bound to lead the household and be the decision-maker on family rules, but you come from a place of love and wanting everyone to succeed. You don’t even need us to tell you how it can go when someone crosses you or your loved ones, dear Scorpio, so keep those emotions in check and remember to lower your standards just a smidge, because life with tiny humans is beautiful—but every day will not be perfect.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)

  • The fun one
  • Up for adventure
  • Calm and loving

The curious, adventurous spirit that has driven you to some of the best times of your life is about to meet its match on the playground, at the zoo, and within the walls of the library with your new little best friend. Sag mamas and papas are explorers by nature, so we predict scavenger hunts, road trips, and maybe even a flight or two before Baby’s first birthday!

You’re going to be a fun parent who strives to make life joyful for your brood. Your chilled-out nature will be a welcome support to them from toddlerhood to the teen years, and your endless love will, too. Sagittarius parents rarely get angry, showing their love without reservation or condition, and they make their children’s passions their own. We just want to gently remind you not to lose yourself in the journey of parenthood, and to carve out a bit of time for your own adventures and an occasional reminder of who you were before.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)

  • Strict disciplinarian
  • You are your family’s rock
  • Most likely to limit screen time

Listen up, Cap. There’s a lot to be said for your fierce adherence to rules and regulations, and you will run that house like the tight ship you believe it should be. Your kids will learn from a young age that the rules are the rules and will respect you. While sometimes you might feel like every other word out of your mouth is “no,” make sure to take mindful steps toward creating fun and whimsy in the home and not becoming too strict.

You are the heart of the family that keeps everyone in orbit. You will support your kids in all of their endeavors and believe in even their craziest of dreams. During the most difficult of times, Capricorn parents hold it all together and make sure that food is on the table and clothes are on the backs, and of course, that love and cuddles are given out freely. You will love your children with a fierceness you never knew you possessed and rise to the challenge of parenthood.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18)

  • Bohemian parenting
  • Chatty and involved
  • Homeschooler potential

The hippie in you is going to come in strong in the role of parent. Your home might be a bit unconventional, but that’s what will make it special! Whether that means lots of homemade art on the walls and experimental baked goods in the oven, or even trying your hand at homeschooling (after all, that’s another outlet for your innate curiosity!), you will glow as the center of your free-spirited home and your kids will love every minute of it.

You are social by nature, and make friends easily, so you’ll likely head up or be highly involved with your kids’ play groups and other associations. At the very least, you will be the one that brings the neighborhood children and their parents together for popsicles and chit-chat on a hot summer’s day. It’s a good thing to be highly involved in your children’s lives, just make sure that you keep the same passion and involvement even if the pursuits they choose are more buttoned-up than the ones you would have selected for them.

Pisces (February 19-March 20)

  • Compassionate and super-nurturing
  • Tuned into their children
  • Lenient—almost to a fault

If you’ve ever heard those stories about parents who wake in the middle of the night with unexplained pain in their bodies only to learn that their children were hurt in that same spot at the same moment, chances are that parent was a Pisces. Your intuition and connectedness to your child(ren) will be unmatched, taking “mother knows best” to the next level. You will participate deeply in their triumphs and sorrows—#1 fan and closest companion from the start.

Pisces parents pile on heaps of love and rarely get angry or critique their kiddos. This is not a bad thing! Just make sure your leniency doesn’t border on pushover territory, because children do need some limits. Your kindness and caring nature will make you not only an awesome parent, but a friend your kiddos will want to hold close for the rest of their days.
